To Forgive Is Divine

The real test of character comes when we have every justification to be bitter over tragedy but instead proclaim: “All Is Forgiven”.

Tout est pardonné, Je suis Charlie

By all accounts one could argue that the editors of Charlie Hebdo need to be able to take everything they dish out, but I think you’d find few that think that anyone should deserve to die over a cartoon.

I really don’t find any of their work to be in good taste, but I think there is something to be said for a society that tolerates things that may be disagreeable.

It’s sad that a few people thought that their religion meant killing people over a few drawings. They are cowards and betrayers of the ideals they claim to defend. Nevertheless, the real test of character comes when we have every justification to be bitter over tragedy but instead proclaim: ”All Is Forgiven”.

It’s too bad their murderers didn’t believe the same.
